Where road prices come unstuck
On a live road the traffic plan can cost as much as the pavement. We price the staging the job will really need, shift by shift, and show it separately so you can check it against your traffic control subcontractor.
Asphalt is bought by the tonne, not the square metre. Area times depth times density, plus the extra you lose on an uneven milled surface, is what the plant will charge you for. Small pours and night shifts also carry minimum loads and standing time, and we price them the way you'll be charged.
The existing pavement is rarely the depth the drawing assumes, and tying into existing kerbs and driveways always takes more than it looks. We write down what we've assumed, so if it's different on the day, the variation is clear.
Common questions
Do you price council resurfacing programmes?
Yes, including schedules of rates, with the traffic control, night work and small-job allowances shown so the rates hold up across the whole programme.
Which specifications do you price to?
Whatever the tender calls up. In NSW that's usually Transport for NSW or the council's own standard. Interstate it's the local road authority's. If the tender doesn't say, we note what we've assumed.
Can you price the drainage and services on the same road?
Yes. Stormwater, utilities and structures can all go in the same estimate.
